The Institute was founded in 1972. It is a central scientific facility of the Dortmund University of Technology. INFU initiates, promotes and carries out inter-disciplinary research projects in the field of environmental protection. Furthermore, INFU coordinates the interdisciplinary cooperations between the departments of the University of Dortmund.
