Applications will be available from : Monday, 15thMarch 2010
The objective of the Summer schools is to give advanced students in chemistry and technology practical instructions to conduct instrumental analysis according to the current state of art. In order to improve the quality of education and research activities, a series of lectures and corresponding experimental work for students from South-Eastern Europe Universities will be organized.
Four Summer schools, each a week long, will be held at different Universities, with different subjects of applied spectroscopy:
Application of GC and UV-VIS methods for terpenes, pesticides and anthocyanins determinations in wine
Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University "Ss. Cyril and Methodius", Skopje, R. Macedonia
From 05th – 12th July 2009
During the course, wine samples, taken from the winery, will be prepared by SPE and LLE for analysis of terpenes and pesticides by GC. UV-VIS technique will be used for determination of the colored components i.e. anthocyanins in wine samples applying pH-differential method. Preparation and presentation of reports concerning to the practical work will be made. Lectures will be given to introduce the analytical techniques, as well as the wine components that are subject of investigation.
GC-MS application in the area of soil and water contamination with traces of hydrocarbons and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and identification of fatty acid methyl esters in vegetable oil
Faculty of Technology, University of Novi Sad, R. Serbia
From 12th – 19th July 2009
Within the course, sampling, in situ measurements, sample preparations with LLE and SPE, the GC-MS qualitative and quantitative trace determinations of hydrocarbons and PAHs in soil and water, as well as FAMEs identification in vegetable oil, together with evaluation of methods, preparation of reports and presentations, will be made. Theoretical aspects of the course subject will be covered with lectures.
HPLC application in the area of food constituents (caffeine and catechines) and toxin (coumarin) determinations
University of Maribor, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Slovenia
From 19th – 26th July 2009
Within the course, sampling, in situ measurements, sample preparations with LLE, SLE and SFE, the HPLC determination of caffeine, catechines and coumarin, SFC determination of caffeine, together with evaluation of methods, preparation of reports and presentation, will be made.Theoretical aspects of the course subject will be covered with lectures.
Application of atomic spectrometric (AS) and molecular vibrational (IR- and Raman) methods for trace element determinations (Cd, As, Pb) and component analysis in pharmaceutical products (analgetics, N-acetyl cysteine, their polymorphs and trade mixture with caffeine and vitamin C) and waters
Faculty of Chemistry, University of Sofia “St. Kl. Ohridski”, Bulgaria
From 23rd – 30th August 2009
Within the course, sampling, experimental sample preparation of the solid binary mixtures of trade pharmaceutical products, their qualitative and quantitative determination, as well as analysis of the trade products by means of AS, IR- and Raman will be made. Theoretical aspects of the course subject will be covered with lectures.
According to the Bologna declaration credit points 3 will be granted for each Summer school.
